Trust Wallet is one of the most popular cryptocurrencies in the industry — since its launch in 2017, more than 140 million users have installed this utility on devices. The application supports various tokens and cryptocurrencies in more than 100 decentralized networks and is compatible with Decentralized Finance (DeFi) and NFT websites

What is a Trust Wallet?

Trust Wallet is a digital storage system that works independently of centralized systems. Its source code is open so that anyone can read it. The given crypto wallet provides many proven benefits and is suitable for beginners and experienced users in the digital investing field.

Unlike centralized websites like crypto exchanges, where access to funds is controlled by third parties, Trust Wallet supports the concept of self-storage, providing the user full control of private keys.

The Wallet Features

Trust Wallet works with more than 160 thousand different assets and blockchains. It allows one to receive interest if placing digital coins in it.

Functionality

Initially, the wallet was created exclusively for ERC20 and ERC223 standard tokens, but now it also supports popular digital money such as Bitcoin (BTC).

Trust Wallet is equipped with a built-in Web3 browser. Thanks to it, one can buy crypto tokens via a decentralized exchange (DEX) based on the Kyber network. In addition, the browser provides access to various decentralized applications (dApps) on the Ethereum platform directly from the wallet interface.

The wallet is compatible with iOS version 10.0 and above, as well as with Android starting from version 5.0.

Safety

This digital utility offers significant control over the safety of digital assets. It uses open-source software, does not store personal information, and protects accounts with a password and/or biometric data. Moreover, users can set the auto-lock time to limit unauthorized access to applications.

Transaction costs

Trust Wallet does not require any additional fees for the exchange of cryptocurrencies within the application or the use of dApps, except for fees for transactions within the network. However, when buying assets through third-party exchanges, it will keep a commission of 1% - however, it can be avoided if at least 100 tokens are stored in the wallet in the BEP2, BEP20, or SPL format.

How to Create and Set Up a Trust Wallet?

The process of creating a Trust Wallet is intuitive and generally runs the same way both in the mobile application and in the browser extension. To get a new address, the user must:

  1. Download the Trust Wallet client from its website, App Store, or Google Play.
  2. Launch the application or extension and click Get Started to run the setup.
  3. Select the Create a new wallet option. At this stage, you will also need to set a password to protect the application.
  4. For standard addresses (without the Swift function), the client will offer to save the mnemonic phrase necessary to restore access to funds. You can transfer it to an external media manually or use cloud synchronization with iCloud.
  5. After selecting the storage format, 12 words of the mnemonic phrase will appear on the screen. Then the application will check that you have read it.
  6. After confirming the seed phrase, click Confirm to complete the wallet creation process and access the interface.

This process ensures maximum user autonomy, allowing them to control their assets without intermediaries. At the same time, the given application makes creating a new wallet simple, fast, and accessible to beginners

Conclusions

Trust Wallet has become one of the most popular non-custodial digital storages in the industry, providing full control over assets and support for 100+ blockchains for more than 140 million users worldwide. With built-in features such as staking, crypto exchange, and interaction with dApps, anyone can conveniently manage assets and earn income right in the app.

The basic advantages of the wallet are security and ease of configuration. However, asset protection depends on the responsible storage of the seed phrase and compliance with basic security rules when using blockchain platforms.
