Minimum and Maximum XMR Exchange Amounts

Short answer: The minimum for an XMR swap exists because the exchange has to cover network fees on both sides, and the exact figure is shown live in the calculator on the pair page, since it moves with fees. There is no upper limit on a standard swap at Swapuz. On a large order the thing to plan is not a cap but the rate: take a fixed rate, or split the amount into tranches so a single quote does not carry the whole position.

Minimums and maximums confuse people because they come from different places. The floor is technical and small. The ceiling, where it exists at all, is about liquidity and rate risk rather than a rule someone wrote down.

What sets the minimum?

Because those inputs move, the minimum is quoted live rather than fixed in an article. Open the pair page, type an amount, and the calculator either accepts it or tells you the current floor. The same applies in reverse: swapping into XMR has a minimum set by the chain you are sending from, which is why a BTC to XMR minimum and a USDT to XMR minimum are not the same number.

Is there a maximum?

Not for standard swaps on Swapuz. The practical constraints on a large order are the market and the clock, not a limit on the form.

  • Rate movement while the deposit confirms. Monero needs ten confirmations, roughly twenty minutes. On a floating order the final amount is set when those land.
  • Fixed-rate windows. A fixed rate holds only if the deposit arrives inside the window shown on the order, which matters more on a chain with slow blocks than on Monero.
  • Routing depth. Very large orders may route across several venues. That is handled automatically, and it is a reason the quoted rate can differ from a screenshot taken minutes earlier.
  • Compliance filters. Swaps run without KYC by default, and verification is requested only when a transaction is flagged by internal AML filters or by a partner. Size alone is not the trigger, but an unusual pattern can be.

How to handle a large XMR swap

  1. Check the quote for the full amount first, so you know what the route offers before committing to anything.
  2. Decide between fixed and floating. Fixed removes the rate question for the window; floating settles at whatever the market does while your deposit confirms.
  3. If the position is large relative to the pair, split it into two or three tranches. Each order gets its own quote, and no single confirmation window carries everything.
  4. Send the exact amount shown on the deposit screen. An underpayment leaves the order short, and an overpayment is processed as a different amount than the one quoted.
  5. Keep the exchange ID and, on Monero, the transaction key from your wallet. With a private chain, a transaction proof is the only way support can verify a deposit if anything needs checking.

What about the Monero unlock time?

Incoming XMR shows as locked for ten blocks, about twenty minutes. The coins are already yours and the transaction is final; the wallet simply cannot spend them yet. If you plan a chain of operations, count that unlock into the schedule rather than assuming the balance is immediately spendable.

FAQ

What happens if I send less than the minimum?

The order cannot be processed automatically and has to be handled by support, so avoid it: check the calculator before sending. Very small amounts can also cost more in network fees than they are worth to recover.

What happens if I send more than the order says?

The swap is processed against the amount that actually arrived, which means the payout differs from the quote. On a fixed-rate order that can also void the locked rate. Copy the figure from the deposit screen instead of rounding it.

Is there a limit for swaps without an account?

No account is required for any standard swap, and there is no separate limit for anonymous orders. Verification appears only when a specific transaction is flagged, not as a threshold you cross.

Do fees change with size?

The service fee is 0.8% regardless of size, so it scales with the order. Network fees do not: they are roughly fixed per transaction, which is why they dominate a tiny swap and are irrelevant on a large one. A free account takes 10% off the service fee.

Which pair should I use for a large exit from Monero?

Into dollars, the usual routes are XMR to USDT and XMR to USDC; into the benchmark asset, XMR to BTC. All three take fixed or floating rates and none of them requires registration.
